Check domain blacklists
Check one domain against Spamhaus DBL and SURBL using direct DNS first. If that fails, try WhoAPI, then retry direct DNS once if needed. Successful list results are preserved across attempts. When both lists were checked successfully and either reports a listing, reuse that result for three days (72 hours) from its original check time. Repeated requests do not extend the cache lifetime. After expiry, the next request checks again. Clean results and incomplete checks are not cached. The domain does not need to be imported into Peeker. The check does not update saved domain health.
blacklisted is true when either supported domain list reports a
listing. IP-based lists and mail-server IPs are excluded.
Checks fail open: if providers remain unavailable after all attempts,
return 200 with the same response shape as a clean result. Any confirmed
listing is preserved; otherwise blacklisted and unavailable list flags
default to false. Failed checks returned as clean are never cached, so
calling again runs fresh checks. Responses use Cache-Control: no-store
for clients; the listed-result cache is managed by Peeker on the server.
checked_at records when the check attempts finished and keeps that
original timestamp when a cached listing is returned.
Requires a live key with full or limited permissions. Sandbox
keys return 403 forbidden and do not call the provider. Allow up to
45 seconds for the full retry sequence.
